Hong Kong the final disposal outlet of the municipal solid waste
including waste from households, industry and commercial operations
is the three existing landfill sites, located at Nim Wan, Tseung
Kwan O and Ta Kwu Ling. The continue growth in wasteloads makes the
existing landfill site run out far earlier than expected. If we do
nothing to reverse the trend, our existing landfill site will run
off in 7 to 11 years. If solutions are not found immediately, we
will face a crisis in the next decade of having nowhere to settle
